FTS Interactive Trading  Demonstration

Important Note:  For this demo to work, Port Number 26888 must not be blocked by your firewall.  On a personal computer this is usually the case but from a university computer you will probably need to get 26888 unblocked (plus 23566 if you also want to run the FTS Real Time Client demo as well).

Welcome to the demonstration page which lets you see how you can introduce FTS markets with price discovery into your classroom.  This demonstration is an actual replay of a classroom session using trading case B02.  This case introduces students to the Time Value of Money applied to fixed income securities (Zero coupon bonds and a Coupon Bond).  You can read this case by clicking on B02.  In addition, you can watch a video on the teaching objectives associated with running B02 in your classroom to teach concepts ranging from how to make market to where does the yield curve come from?  To watch this video click on Time Value of Money & Yield Curve.

Running the Demonstration

Step 1

  • If you have never installed the FTS system on your laptop or desktop you should first complete the one time installation of the FTS Market Software.  Click on Install FTS Market Software.

  • Click on the button Connect to FTS Demo Market.  You will be automatically connected to a past classroom trading crowd.  The market is completely interactive and so you can compete against this trading crowd! 

  • Note:  The correct IP Address automatically populates the IP textbox upon clicking on the Connect to FTS Demo Market button.  But if you need to enter this manually the IP Address is:  74.208.11.13

Important Note

  • There are only a finite number of demonstration slots so if your slot is taken by another using trying out this demonstration unfortunately you lose your connection to the market.  You can re-log on to get another randomly assigned connection or return later in a quieter period of time.  The demonstration runs continually 24-hours a day 7-days a week!
